The Drop Zone

Welcome to The Drop Zone

Want feedback on your writing? Need assistance with complex math and science problems? You’re in the right place!

The Drop Zone is an online service (although you could show up in real life, too) where you simply submit what you need help with to receive feedback from an academic strategist. There are two types of academic strategists: a type for all your writing needs and a type for your math and science quandaries.

  • Writing Drop Zone
  • Math & Science Drop Zone

The Writing Drop Zone is a place where you can get feedback on your writing from one of our writing experts. The best part? You don’t need to attend in person! You can simply submit your paper to the drop zone and receive feedback within 3 working days.

Note: If you submit your query at 4:00pm on a Friday afternoon, we will get back to you by 4:00pm the following Wednesday

If you’re looking to improve as a writer, you’ve come to the right place! Access a writing expert by filling out the Writing Drop Zone form.

Writing Academic Strategists are here to support you in your writing progress through discussions and feedback as you develop a thesis statement or practice writing concisely. We will help you develop your academic writing skills over your semester or program.

Keep in mind that the more specific you are with the feedback you want (structure, clarity, introduction and conclusion, spelling and grammar, etc.), the better the feedback you’ll get.

What does a writing academic strategist do?

Writing Academic Strategists help at all stages of the writing process with concepts like:

  • planning and outlining
  • thesis statements
  • structure
  • grammar and mechanics
  • style
  • APA citations and formatting
What won’t a writing academic strategist help with?

A writing strategist will not edit your papers or help you with course content.

Note: In cases where the advice from your Academic Strategist differs from your instructor, go with what your instructor suggests.

How does the writing drop zone work?

Fill in the form and submit your paper or assignment, indicating which area you most want feedback on. One of our Academic Strategists will review your paper and send it back with comments within 3 business days. You can then apply the feedback to your writing.

My paper is 20 pages long. Can I still submit to The Drop Zone?

While you are welcome to submit your entire paper, we are unable to read lengthy documents in their entirety. Strategists commit to spending 30 minutes reviewing your paper and adding comments. Remember you will get feedback on the area you most identified for attention (structure, clarity, introduction and conclusion, spelling and grammar, etc.).

I already submitted my paper, but my instructor said I get bonus points for using The Drop Zone. Can I still get the points?

While you can submit any paper to The Drop Zone, it is best if used for a paper you are still working on. Please do not have our strategists give you feedback you are not going to use.

Will you edit my paper if I submit it to the Drop Zone?

The Drop Zone is a place to get feedback on your work. Just like an appointment with an Academic Strategist, we will not edit your paper. Instead, you can expect feedback on the area you selected on your submission form (clarity, structure, introduction and conclusion, citations/references, APA formatting, etc.).

Can I submit more than one paper at a time?

Yes, but if you submit multiple papers, be aware that each must be submitted separately. Your feedback will not all be returned at the same time, and you might get feedback from different strategists.

Is there a limit to how many times I can submit the same paper?

Well, the time between when you submit your paper and when it is due is not infinite, so…yes. We encourage you to submit each paper only once. If the feedback given is insufficient or you desire more, you can email us and ask further questions.

We are here to help, but the Drop Zone is for all students, and we want to have the capacity to serve as many as we can.

The Math/Science Drop Zone can give helpful guidance when solving problems by providing step-by-step guidance, developing and strengthening fundamental skills, simplifying complex concepts. You can simply submit your question to the drop zone and receive feedback within 3 working days.

Note: If you submit your query at 4:00pm on a Friday afternoon, we will get back to you by 4:00pm the following Wednesday

If you’re looking to develop your math and science knowledge and skills, this is the place for you! Access a math/science expert by filling out the Math & Science Drop Zone form.

The Math/Science Drop Zone can be used to submit math problems or science concepts that you have already attempted and are struggling with. You can submit up to 3 problems at a time for feedback and support at a time.

Keep in mind that the more specific you are with the feedback you want, the better the feedback you’ll get.

It wouldn’t let me submit my question—what should I do?

If this happens, wait a day or two and try again.

What should I do if I don’t understand the feedback?

We welcome questions. If you don’t understand the feedback, feel free to email your strategist and ask for clarification. We are here to make you a better student, which only works if we understand each other.
